Plus, each section has parallel accounts about them in German and English.
But here's the thing ... the English versions, though generally accurate, are somewhat stilted .. they're not quite what an English speaker would have written.
I've already put quite a few examples of them on here. I'll put the links to them at the end ...but for now, we'll look at what the captions for the Berlin-Museum look like.
Here the German version. The usual format is, I get you to translate it, and then you get to compare it with whatever the translator has made of it. In general, you will tend to do it better. Which is very encouraging, is it not.....
Right then .... get translating ...
"You must absolutely visit the " Berlin Museum" in the Lindenstraße of the Kreuzberg district. Only from the outside, you will feel enthusiastic for the building of late Baroque style. The fronts were very thoroughly reconstructed to the last detail according to original drawings. The interior of the museum houses interesting collections covering the history of Berlin as well as an original pale beer pub of cosy atmosphere inviting you for a rest after the fatiguing visits. It surely was a good idea to convert the Old Supreme Court in which already E. Th. A. Hoffmann attended to his duties, into a museum."
As you can see, it's all perfectly understandable, leaving out the "original pale beer pub" bit, but it reads oddly in places.
