Here's an unusual bit of poetry for you
..... I think you will find it rather odd ...
Mückenlied
Die Mücken sehen alle aus,
als ob sie Emma hießen.
Sie tragen einen weißen Flaus
und sind mit Schrot zu schließen.
Ich schieße keine Mücke tot,
ich laß sie lieber leben -
und füttre sie mit Roggenbrot
und rötlichen Zibeben.
O Mensch, du wirst nie nebenbei
der Mücke Flug erreichen.
Wofern du emma heißest, sei
zufrieden, ihr zu gleichen.
So ... what was the odd thing about it ?
I'll give you a hint after the (also rather odd) music selection...
I don't think parody is one of the Germanic top skills .
Certainly in that example anyway.
OK .... here's
the
use-
ful
hint
I
promised
you ...... that "Mücke" in the top line ....
... well, in the original it was a different creature .....
... only a tiny distance away from "Mücke" in a dictionary.
.... just a few centimetres .... usually.
... in a small dictionary. sometimes right next to it.
..... and it's a much better "fit" with the rest of the poem.
