But once you've worked out what's going on, it will be worth it.
There will be a bit of helping advice a bit later on, if you need it.
Here we go ...
Distel piek, wenn Du Mahr Kett'
Distel piek, steh der Dom.
Distel piek, hat Rosspuff ;
Distel piek, hat Nonn'
Und Distel piek Kreide weh, weh ,weh, *
I.Kant ** fein Maiweh Ohm.
OK ... I suggest you read it a few times, maybe out loud.
Now we'll have some music, out loud.... mainly, so you won't see the "helpful" notes about the poem. too soon.... Miss Allie .. " Du bist Wunderschön"
Here's what the author explained about it ...
* The poet draws a series of remarkable comparisons to illustrate the force of a thistle's prickle.It is like the chains on a nightmare ; it stands as high as a cathedral ; it is like the crashing of a steed ; like being hit on the head with a special kind of roof-tile ; like a chalky pain ; like a fine pain in May; and finally, it is like an electric shock.
** Immanuel Kant ( 1724 - 1804) , the founder of critical or transcendental philosophy, whose writings exerted a considerable influence on the philosophical thought of the 18th and 19th centuries. His main works were Critiaque of Pure Reason (1781), Critique of Practical Reason ( later) and Critique of the Power of Judgement ( later still), but a close scrutiny of all three reveals no references to thistles.
Well, I expect that helped you all a lot. Or not.
Maybe this will jog your memory banks ...
I'm leaving a BIG SPACE so you'll only see it if you're desperate ...
