I've put JH interviews on here before .... and here's three more ... the first one is from 2104, the other two are from 2017 ... and as I suggested with the "Soap opera" video I put on recently, unless you're really advanced, it's a good idea to just take a small chunk at a time to try to fully understand what they are saying. This is really up-to-date-ish ... 2017 !! ...and so is this-ish ... I hope you liked those .... she speaks well and clearly ...she obviously has us in mind !

I've just noticed that there's a German film on the box this evening ( Sunday 18th March 2018) on BBC4 at 10pm ... 13 Minutes:the Plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler . It's listed as being "in German with English subtitltes" but you can't always rely on that sort of thing. Anyhow. we'll see.
Well actually there's going to be more than two.... and they're "at swim" only in the sense that they're muddled up. What we've got here is a list of German names for birds ...... you've got the German on the left, and the English names on the right. BUT .... they've been jumbled up...and your task is to sort out the correct pairings. I've not put any obscure or tricky ones in the list ... once you work out what the "bits" of the German versions mean it should be straightforward .... even obvious in some cases.... mostly you'll only need one "bit." Dreizehenspecht Shore Lark Wüstensteinschmätzer Bee Eater Mauerläufer Spoonbill Wendehals Wallcreeper Bienenfresser Desert Wheatear Rohrammer Crested Tit Ohrenlerche Imperial Eagle Elfenbeinmöwe Three-toed Woodpecker Nachtreiher Wryneck Löffler Ivory Gull Kaiseradler Night Heron Haubenmauser Reed Bunting So ... get sorting. I think I did a similar thing a while ago ... I'll have a bit of a search ,and if I find it I'll do a link to it. "Rote Rosen" is a German "Soap Opera" ... here's an episode. Soaps are an entertaining way to improve your German listening skills ... for anyone beyond the beginner stage. I tend to watch this sort of thing in 5-minute chunks .... often scrolling back and listening to some or all of it again to try to "get" more of it. It's a thing you can't do in real conversations, and you might as well do it when you can. There's loads of episodes of this one, so there's plenty of listening available.... plus, there's lots of other series like this. Well worth exploring.... As many of you know, I'm trying to persuade you all to rush out and buy the various " Kleine Nick" books ... they're funny, clever, beautifully illustrated and bloody brilliant for us learners. After all, you might as well learn German and enjoy yourself at the same time. Win-win. So, I've been serialising the very first Nick-based story, in which Nick and his gormless "friends" make a complete shambles out of an attempt to get a " class photograph" which will be treasured forever by their doting ( but frazzled) families. Fat chance !!! The previous "episode" was here ... 201-yes-its-those-numptys-again.html And the one before that was here ........ 149-nick-2.html And the first one was here ... 136-eine-erinnerung-furs-leben.html Here we go with part 4 ..... [ Georg has a rich father who buys him anything he wants .... [ I love that " Weitwinkel" ..... [ In these more modern times Otto would be " under observation" on suspicion of gluttony and probably on some sort of "spectrum" ] But now, a bit of sense and order ... it's Music Time with Tomte ... " Ich sang die ganze Zeit von dir " Here's some "words videos" for Philipp Poisel ..... all in the same place ... how convenient is that ? So far I've got .... Mit jedem deiner Fehler...All die Jahre... Halt mich ... Als gäbs kein Morgen mehr .... Zwischen Innen und Aussen .... and more to follow ... [1] Mit jedem deiner Fehler [2] All die Jahre [3] Halt mich [4] Als gäbs kein Morgen mehr [5] Zwischen Innen und Aussen A few days ago I found this magnificent vinyl specimen in a charity shop. I proffered my 25p and walked away with this terrific waxing... Einmal am Rhein. Crumbs. You can't help wondering how old it was. I would say 1963-ish.. Mainly based on the cover picture. The internet doesn't know either. Next ... I wonder if it had ever been played. It's absolutely untouched ... no scratches, no pencilled remarks on the inner sleeve, nowt. Needless to say, the moment I got it home and the Significant Otter was out I shoved it on the "record player" and had a listen. Here's what the internet DOES know about it .. just look at that hefty track list!! Marvel at the scarcity of verbs !! And most of them that are there are about drinking. Well, almost. Some. And while you do that, I'll find one of the songs and put it on here ... here's the 3rd track, " Im tiefen Keller sitz ich hier" .... he's a bit of a belter, this singer ... Willy Schneider ... and I hope you all know what Schneider means ... truly. Now that LP cover on the song's video is a bit of a clue ... but it's not much good as a map. But my 25p purchase has a really lovely map on the back ... and that's what swayed me to part with all that money. Here it is .. Hmmm. it hasn't blown up too well. But you can see it's a classy map. I'll photograph it myself and it should be a bit better ... I'll stick it on later.
Here it is ... my terrific photograph of it ... a slight improvement. I've no idea if you've ever watched Lola Rennt ... obviously. It's a fine film, but there's quite a lot of bits where there's not actually a lot of German getting spoken. As us learners all know, we don't want all these long, thoughtful silences. Even if they're running around. We want them to get blasted well talking ... and not too fast either. And reasonably clearly. It's not a lot to ask. Here's a trailer for it .... judge for yourselves if it comes up to our exacting criteria... ..what about this one .... ... and this one ... As you can see, it's all pretty tense stuff. But now, 'tis music time ... a lovely song this .. Alan Coen Band .. Ich versuchs, schau her! Versehen. |
